Unevolved

It was a chilled night.
Air so crisp it caused the breath from a warmed body to swirl to life.
The trees swayed gently to the touch of the wind's passing.
Leaves dancing as if to try and reach in the wind's touch.
A frustrated Eevee was sitting in the path.
Unevolved and upset with that fact.
His friend was also unevolved, yet didn't mind this.
"Hey~ Why are you just sitting out here? Aren't you cold?" Irene asked.
She had been a long time friend and even love interest of his.
Irene nuzzled herself into Nero's fluffy body.
"I'm waiting.. So I can train to be an Umbreon.." He spoke finally.
Voice low as the words curled in the vapor.
There were other evolutions Nero had once set his sights on.
Such as Jolteon which was the first choice, but was quick to change goals.
"Would you.. Like to train with me?" His question was after the gesture of licking her on the head.
Irene happily nodded and went to stand in front of him.
"And we can also get warm too~!"

With that.
The two began to battle and train.
Giving each other tips.
Helping with how to attack properly.
This went on for only a few hours.
Before it happend..
A flash of bright light..
The sign of evolving!
Black and yellow patterns formed over the brown.
The color of ruby red stained against and took over the chocolate color.
A feeling of accomplishment blossomed.
Irene had evolved.

Nero watched.
"She.. Evolved.... Into an Umbreon.."
The Eevee watched as his hope began plummeting.
Colors faded as Irene began examining her new body.
Hope now dying with the light of dawn.
"L-look Nero! I evolved!" The new Umbreon bounced happily.
He forced a grin. "You look amazing..~"
The life was gone from his voice.
